The victim (E336) was a female in her 70s in 2005. The victim was detained, interrogated, and physically assaulted in North Pyongan Provincial MSS detention centre for a known period. The victim was malnourished and was interrogated daily. Following interrogations, the victim was returned to their cell with bruises and torn skin. The victim told E453 during a 3-minute exercise break, “Believe in God and then you will go to heaven because there is no pain there”. The victim was removed from their cell and was not returned. When E453 asked the named correctional officer about the victim, the officer said: “That old woman is not coming back [...] She went to die. She has to die”.
