The victim (E233) was a named male aged in his 30s in 2001. The victim was a missionary and was arrested crossing back into North Korea from a church in a known location in China. The victim was detained at Musan County MSS detention centre. The victim continued to pray within their prison cell. The victim was physically assaulted by an MSS officer and all the prisoners in the same cell were ordered to physically assault the victim. The victim was sentenced to imprisonment for a known and significant period of years at Chongori re-education camp No.12. Certain information is withheld for the victim’s safety.
