The victim (E238) was a female in her 20s in 2009. The victim was refouled and charged with studying in a Christian group in a known location in China. The victim was detained at North Hamgyong Provincial MSS detention centre. The victim was verbally abused by a named perpetrator who said: ‘Hey, you bitch. Does God know that you’re in here?’. The victim stared at guard, which was a punishable offence. The victim was instructed to crawl backwards out of the cell on her hands and knees and the MSS officer beat the victim with a 3m long wooden club 10 times in her stomach. The victim cried and stated: ‘I am God’s daughter. I am crying because I am worried that God would be in pain seeing his daughter being hit in prison’. The victim was placed on trial and sentenced to Chongjin Susong political prison camp. Certain information is withheld for the victim’s safety.
